FREDERICKSBURG — (Press Release) The public is invited to attend a public hearing next week to learn more about a project to build additional Interstate 95 northbound lanes parallel to the I-95 northbound general-purpose lanes in the Fredericksburg area.

This public hearing was originally scheduled for June 26, 2019. The hearing was postponed, and it has been rescheduled for Aug. 22, 2019.
Stop by the public hearing anytime between 5-7 p.m. to review displays, proposed design plans, the project’s Environmental Assessment (EA), and discuss questions with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff.
Written and oral comments on the project will be accepted at the public meeting, and afterward through Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.

Project Background
The I-95 Northbound Rappahannock River Crossing project seeks to reduce northbound I-95 congestion between Exit 130 and Exit 133 interchanges.
The new northbound crossing will add additional lanes parallel to the general purpose lanes on I-95 from Exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg to Exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford.
Construction is anticipated to begin by early 2021 and conclude in 2024.
