ANOTHER STAFFORD SHOOTING: 2 found shot on New Hope Church Road

STAFFORD — Authorities are investigating a double shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon.

A Stafford sheriff’s office press release sent to reporters on Sunday states:

On Saturday August 3, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the Stafford County Emergency Operations Center received a 911 call for an unknown situation on New Hope Church Road [near White Oak]. The caller also stated that two subjects in the house were discovered in an upstairs bedroom covered in blood.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they located a male subject and a female subject unconscious and in the condition the caller had stated.Each had an apparent gunshot wound to the head.The male suspect was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene and Deputy Justin Forman and rescue personnel performed life saving measures on the female. She was soon thereafter transported to a local hospital by Stafford Fire and Rescue.

The deceased has been identified as forty-one year old Michael Shane Nelson of Stafford County. The identity of the female victim is being withheld at this time.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into this case with the assistance of an Investigator from the Office of the State Medical Examiner.

Six people have been shot in the county in four separate incidents in the past 30 days. At least three of those shootings were fatal.
