MANASSAS — Didlake Inc., a Virginia-based nonprofit, announced the purchase of the UPS Store located at the Center at Innovation, 9994 Sowder Village Square in Manassas.
Didlake connects people with disabilities to employment, education, and opportunities throughout the National Capital Region.
This is the second UPS franchise owned by Didlake and is one of five UPS stores in the U.S. owned and operated by a nonprofit organization.
Didlake opened its first UPS store in 2015 at Potomac Town Center in Woodbridge.
Like that location, the Manassas store will employ approximately eight staff, including those of varying abilities who will receive valuable job training and work experience.
In addition, 100 percent of profits from this UPS Stores will support programs that create opportunities for people with disabilities.
“We are thrilled with the opportunities the UPS Stores provide for employment and training,” said Didlake Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing Erika Spalding. “The new store will continue to provide great service to UPS Store customers in the area, and will also serve as a springboard for people with disabilities as they gain experience in the workforce.”
The UPS Store is an ideal fit for Didlake, which has more than 25 years of experience managing federal mailroom and copy center operations across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Along with the company’s document imaging business and specialized oversize imaging expertise, Didlake continues to expand its services to meet the needs of customers in and around Prince William County while creating opportunities for people with disabilities in the community.
“Expect all the great products and services you’ve come to know from UPS Stores nationwide,” said store Business Manager April Chervenka, “but with the extra commitment and attention that our team in Manassas will provide.”
Didlake and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 26 at 8:30 a.m. at the Center at Innovation UPS store.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 9 a.m.
