Chantilly Air breaks ground on Manassas Regional Airport expansion

MANASSAS – Chantilly Air, Washington D.C.’s most established charter and aviation services provider, celebrated the groundbreaking of their new fixed-base operation (FBO) at the Manassas Regional Airport this week.

To celebrate the start of the expansion, The City of Manassas Mayor, Assistant Airport Director, and Members of the Airport Commission along with Members of the City of Manassas Economic Development Team joined COO Tim Sullivan and Chantilly Air Employees.

Slated to open in the first quarter of 2020, Chantilly Air’s new FBO will feature over 90,000 square feet of hangar and office space at Virginia’s busiest general aviation airport.

The facility will provide business aviation passengers the amenities they expect while providing pilots a functional and comfortable space.

Amenities will include passenger lounge areas, crew fitness center, executive conference rooms, and crew planning area. Additional tenant offices will be available for lease on the second and third floors of the facility.

Chantilly Air will pair its established offerings, including their FAA Diamond awarded Part 145 Repair Station, to create Manassas Airport’s only FBO offering turnkey aviation solutions such as charter, maintenance, management, ground support, and hangar facilities.

“The Chantilly Air Team looks forward to growing general aviation activity at the Manassas Regional Airport by providing comprehensive aviation services. Our goal is to create a memorable experience for passengers and crew. Superior customer service is at the core of who we are, and our expanded facilities will allow us to provide this to anyone flying into the airport,” said Tim Sullivan, Chantilly Air COO. “We are grateful for the support of the City of Manassas and the Manassas Regional Airport Commission as we create an airport that becomes the hub of economic development for the area.”

Chairman of the Manassas Airport Commission, Dan Radtke spoke during the ceremony and expressed the importance of strategic growth of the airport, including the over nine-acre Chantilly Air complex, to support the city’s growing business activity.

Manassas announced the largest investment in modern Virginia history with the $3 billion capital investment by Micron less than 2 miles from the airport. Novant Health UVA Health System, Aurora Flight Sciences, and CloudHQ have also announced significant investments near the airport in the last year.

“We’re excited to expand our role to help support the thriving business communities of Northern Virginia and Washington DC. Business aviation is a catalyst for success for many companies and we look forward to welcoming them to the area,” said Caleb Stitely, Chantilly Air’s Marketing and Client Relations Manager.
