Ruth Monaco, of Woodbridge, is turning 106 on Wednesday

WOODBRIDGE – An assisted living community is hosting a 106th birthday celebration for one of its residents.

HarborChase of Prince William Commons will be celebrating Ruth Monaco’s birthday at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Featuring live entertainment, birthday cupcakes, and refreshments, the birthday celebration will be attended by residents, associates, friends, family members, and Occoquan District Supervisor Ruth Anderson.

“We are excited and honored to host Ruth’s 106th birthday,” said Susan Haynes, Executive Director of HarborChase of Prince William Commons. “As the second resident to move into our community, she is a wonderful and treasured member of our family here at HarborChase. At 106, she is still very much on the move. We can’t wait to celebrate this amazing milestone with her.”

The birthday celebration will feature refreshments, music and 106 purple cupcakes, in honor of her favorite color, purple. Supervisor Ruth Anderson, friends, community staff members, and family members all plan to attend.

Ruth was born in Wafordsburg, Penn., to William and Mary. She grew up on a farm with eight brothers and sisters. While her late husband, Lewis, was at war during World War II, Ruth put herself through law school. She had two sons, Lynn Allen and Clifford, and was very dedicated to raising them.

She later worked for the Treasury Department until retirement. She loves animals, sweets, deviled eggs, breakfast, and Cherry Pepsi. Her favorite places to visit are Florida, California, and Chicago. She enjoys reading and does not watch TV.

HarborChase of Prince William Commons serves the needs of seniors and families with assisted living and memory care apartments. The luxury retirement community features chef-prepared seasonal cuisine in multiple restaurants, and fitness and recreational opportunities.

Located in the Prince William Commons neighborhood at 14080 Central Loop in Woodbridge.
