Lightning Relay Games planned for Potomac High School

WOODBRIDGE — The Dale City “Lightning” Track Club (DCTC) will host its annual Lightning Relay Games event on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Potomac Senior High School in Woodbridge.

The event highlights track and field with a focus on the popular relay events. The organization has also included individual running and field events, as well as a 200m challenge to add another exciting element to the competition.

The event is open to clubs, school teams and individual athletes from across the DC Metro area. The event attracts over 600 athletes to compete in one of the largest track and field events of the area.

The event will include vendors, entertainment, appearances from county officials and community supporters to include the Kappa Lambda Chi Military Fraternity Inc. and Kappa Epsilon Psi Military Sorority Inc.

“The Lightning Relay Games has grown to be one of the more competitive and exciting meets of the outdoor track and field season in our area. Teams from across the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) travel to Prince William County to compete for the Lightning Relay Team Championship. The event also showcases individual running and field events,” said Head Coach Monte Evans. “This year we will host the first 200 Challenge, which will highlight teams entering their top 200meter athlete to compete for the championship title. We are looking forward to hosting another great event and watching the youth athletes improve their times, have fun and enjoy the sport of track and field.”

With 500 youth athletes that participate in its training programs, the Dale City Track and Field Club (DCTC) introduces children of all abilities to sprinting, hurdles, distance running and field events such as the shot put, turbo javelin toss, long jump, and high jump.
