DUMFRIES — Police are investigating an attempted break-in at Croppers Towing and Tires in Dumfries.
Police say officers were called at 9:11 p.m to the business at 17735 Farley Blvd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a burglary-in-progress. The business owner reported to police that he was working at the location after hours when a noise was heard coming from the rear garage door.
Upon checking on the noise, an unknown man was seen raising open an overhead garage bay door. Once seen by the owner, the suspect fled on foot, said a police spokesman.
A police K-9 searched for the suspect who was not located. No entry was made into the business and no property was reported missing.
The suspect is described as a white man, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 200 pounds, wearing all dark colored clothing.
