A group of writers from the Greater Prince William County region took to the rails for inspiration.
Members of âWrite by the Rails,â a Manassas-based writers group, which is a part of the Virginia Writers Club, rode the Orange line on Washingtonâs Metro system.
âWe produced poetry, fiction and essays en route from Vienna to New Carrollton. We ended the day at Okraâs, where the first official meeting of Write by the Rails took place in August 2011,â said spokeswoman Katherine Gotthardt.
Those who attended the event, dubbed âWrite on the Rails,â were encouraged to bring notebooks, pens, laptops, phones â whatever would have encouraged them to write for a couple of hours with no interruptions. Writing prompts were made available for those who needed a little inspiration.
The event took place earlier this year on Feb. 23.
