Republican May 4 ‘Firehouse Primary’ candidates, polling locations named

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Whatever you call it — a Republican Party canvass or “firehouse Primary,” a Special Election is set to take place in Prince William County on Saturday, May 4.

The Republican Canvas will take the place of a state-run primary and is designed to allow Republicans to select the nominees that will appear on the ballot in November.

Seven polling stations will operate in Prince William County, while there will be one polling station in each of the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. Voters are permitted to vote only at the balloting station assigned to the Magisterial District in which they are registered.

The are multiple Republicans running or multiple seats on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors:

In Prince William County all locations voters will also vote for Chairman of the Board of Supervisors:

  • John S. Gray
  • Martin E. “Marty” Nohe

In the Coles Magisterial District voters will also vote for Supervisor:

  • Yesli Vega
  • Patrick Sowers

In the Gainesville Magisterial District voters will also vote for Supervisor:

  • Peter “Pete” Candland
  • D. Ray Mizener

In the Potomac Magisterial District voters will also vote for Supervisor:

  • Douglas S. Taggart
  • Davon A. Gray

In Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park, voters will see the Republican options for Commonwealth Attorney’s contest on the ballot:

  • Michael C. “Mike” May
  • Timothy M. Olmstead

Voting locations are:

  1. MANASSAS registered voters in all precincts vote at Grace E. Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas VA 20110.
  2. MANASSAS PARK registered voters in all precincts vote at Grace E. Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas VA 20110
  3. PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY:
    1. Woodbridge Middle School, 2201 York Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22191 registered voters in Woodbridge Magisterial District.
    2. James J. McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Court, Prince William, VA 22192 registered voters in Occoquan Magisterial Districts.
    3. Bristow Run Elementary, 8990 Worthington Drive, Bristow, VA 20136 registered voters in Brentsville Magisterial District.
    4. Bull Run Middle School, 6308 Catharpin Road, Gainesville, VA 20155 registered voters in Gainesville Magisterial District.
    5. Louise Benton Middle School, 7411 Hoadly Road, Manassas, VA 20112, registered voters in Coles Magisterial District.
