Volunteers needed in Dale City for annual Comcast Cares Day

MANASSAS — (Press release) For the fifth consecutive year, Leadership Prince William and Comcast are partnering on a  community service project for the 18th Annual Comcast Cares Day.

On Saturday, May 4, from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m., close to 300 volunteers are needed to carry out large-scale community beautification efforts at The Arc of Greater Prince William. Volunteer registration is available online at leadershipprincewilliam.org.

  • All volunteers are provided with a commemorative t-shirt and lunch, courtesy of Comcast.
  • This event takes place rain or shine.

The Arc of Greater Prince William is committed to providing opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities to achieve their greatest potential for growth and independence. The Arc offers residential services, The Arc Muriel Humphrey Childcare Center, family support, a recreation program, vocational services, and adult day support services.

Andrea Money, Executive Director for Leadership Prince William, explained how The Arc was chosen for this year’s project.

“Each year the members of our Adult Signature Program work in teams to propose various projects for Comcast Cares Day,” she said. “Then we submit the proposals to Comcast for a final decision. The team that put together the ARC project proposal had such a passion for helping people with disabilities, and it really stood out. Volunteers will have the opportunity to make improvements in and around the Arc facility, as well as participate in beautification efforts in the adjoining John Jenkins Park. This is a great opportunity to make a difference for such an important non-profit organization in our community.”

What is the impact of Comcast Cares Day?

Comcast Cares Day began in 2001 to celebrate Comcast’s commitment to volunteerism. This day mobilizes employees, their families and friends to work alongside community partners and public officials to revitalize, refurbish and beautify communities and neighborhoods. Leadership Prince William is partnering with Comcast Cares Day for the fifth consecutive year to host a day of volunteerism in the Greater Prince William Area.
