Silver Sparkles to raise funds and awareness for brain tumor, cancer research

WOODBRIDGE — Silver Sparkles, an annual family fun day to raise funds and awareness for Brain Tumor and Brain Cancer research, will be back at Competitive Edge Athletic Performance Center in Woodbridge on March 2.

To date, the event has raised nearly $40,000 for brain cancer research, while having a great time doing it.

Businesses can join the event at various sponsorship levels, with basic table sponsorships starting at $150. Space includes promotion on the popular PwcMoms website and Facebook page, used by many families in Prince William County.

Families may attend the event by purchasing a family ticket, just one per family, through Eventbrite. This year, the event begins with a Magic Show sponsored by Gray Realty Group from 12-1, and then the main event from 1-4, with moon bounces, face painting, tennis, hockey, and more, for children and their families to enjoy.

Food and snacks will be available for purchase, as will raffle tickets
for various prizes donated by the community.

All proceeds from the event this year will be donated to the Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, which has treated Kristina Kotlus, the event founder and PwcMoms.com owner, during her initial cancer diagnosis in 2013, and her relapse in 2017. ā€œThis cause is obviously near
and dear to my heart, and I am so proud to be able to support others with money for more research, and hopefully, more cures,ā€ said Kotlus.
