BRISTOW — (Press Release)Â On January 2, officers responded to investigate two suspicious person calls involving a man who is believed to be involved in both incidents.
The incidents were reported in the area of Nokesville Road in Manassas (20109) with the first encounter occurring around 2:20 p.m. when an unknown man approached a 17-year-old female as she was getting out of her vehicle in front of the Target located at 9900 Sowder Village Sq. During the encounter, the male told the female that he needed help programing a GPS device then asked her to get into his vehicle.
The man drove away when two citizens confronted the man and told him to leave after the victim refused. The second encounter occurred around 8:40 p.m. outside of the McDonalds located at 9900 Pennsylvania Ave. A 20-year-old woman reported to police that a man matching the same description parked behind her as she was sitting in her vehicle outside of the McDonalds.
The man approached the woman and told her to get out the car. When the woman refused, the man told the woman that his phone did not work and he needed her to get inside of his vehicle and program his GPS. When the victim refused again, the man drove away without any further interaction with the woman. Officers searched the area for the man who was not located. No physical contact was made between the man and the two victims. There is no video surveillance available. The investigation continues.

A middle-aged white male, approximately 5’10”, with a medium complexion, thick accent, bald, mustache, with numerous tattoos on both arms. Last seen wearing a black shirt, black apron, and unknown color pants.

An older looking white or silver vehicle, possibly a van

Katie Brady, county fire department spokeswoman and Fire Life Safety Manager, clarified that “wildfire” is a broad blanket term. Stafford is likelier to experience “brush fires” than quick-moving wildfires that cause widespread destruction like California’s. Brushfires can range in size from a few feet to several acres and can be precursors to a larger wildfire capable of causing significant damage. Brushfires are more common when the area experiences drought conditions, like in 2024.
The disciplinary action taken against Patriot High School Principal Michael Bishop earlier this month is the latest chapter in a turbulent tenure at the school, Insidenova.com reports.
Bishop was placed on involuntary leave, the school announced Jan. 9.
The school division did not provide further details upon request from InsideNoVa because it is a “personnel matter,” said Diana Gulotta, the school system’s director of communications.
