Deputies nab robbery suspect in PNC Bank Heist

STAFFORD COUNTY — (Press Release) A suspect behind the armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday at the PNC Bank inside the

Giant grocery store located at 550 Celebrate Virginia Parkway in Stafford County was arrested Thursday night.

On January 2, 2018, at approximately 1:42 p.m., sheriff’s deputies were called to a holdup alarm at the PNC Bank located at 550 Celebrate Virginia Parkway. An employee informed the sheriff’s office that the bank had been robbed by a black male suspect wearing a tan jacket and black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect was carrying a black handbag.

Upon arrival, a deputy spoke with the bank teller who told him the suspect approached the counter and pulled out a firearm. The suspect then demanded money and the bank teller complied. The suspect exited the store and drove away in a silver Ford Taurus with a tail light out on the passenger side of the vehicle. A “Be On The Lookout” notification for the suspect and vehicle was sent to law enforcement in the area.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Deputy Torrice located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description in the area of 20 Warrenton Road and the vehicle was seized.

On January 3, 2019, Shaun Pierce Pettway, 33, of Woodbridge was taken into custody in Prince William County. The Stafford Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Prince William County Police Department for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
