DALE CITY — One man is charged after someone backed a truck into a 7-Eleven store in Dale City and grabbed the store’s ATM.

The smash and grab happened at 4:11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the convenience store at 14797 Darbydale Avenue.
The driver of the truck backed up and into the glass front of the store, smashing it. Then, four men got out and loaded the cash machine into the bed, according to Prince William police.
About the same time, a woman on nearby Westminister Lane called police and said four men implied they had a weapon and tried to seal her vehicle. The woman was not injured, and the suspects left on foot.
Today, Prince William police announced the arrest of a Washington, D.C. man in connection with the smash and grab, and attempted carjacking.
In a press release, police said:
Upon further investigation, detectives with the Property Crimes Unit have charged the man who had been detained in reference to the burglary at the 7-Eleven located at 14797 Darbydale Ave and the attempted carjacking that occurred in the 14300 block of Westminister Ln on November 20.
The man, identified as David Jerome WALKER, Jr., was subsequently transported to the Adult Detention Center. Video surveillance footage from the 7-Eleven which shows the burglary and the suspects involved is now available. Detectives are still working to identify the other three suspects and are asking for the public’s help in providing information about the suspects. The investigation continues.
