STAFFORD – (Press Release) A traffic stop conducted by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office on Interstate 95 on Friday morning led to the arrest of a suspect on felony drug charges.
On November 16, 2018, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Deputy Hutcheson was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 when he observed several vehicles go around a slow moving vehicle with its hazard lights on in the left lane.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who was identified as Thomas Guglielmo, 22, of Morris Plains, New Jersey. The deputy then observed a substance consistent with marijuana on the suspect’s person. Additional units then arrived at the scene. Deputy Dupree approached the suspect vehicle and observed a substance consistent with marijuana on the passenger seat.
Deputy Hutcheson asked the driver to exit the vehicle. In response, the driver grabbed the steering wheel and refused to comply. The deputies removed the suspect from the vehicle and took him into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed a significant amount of marijuana.
Guglielmo was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. He is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and obstruction of justice.
