Marvin Joanness Bazil

Marvin Joanness Bazil was born on September 16, 1981 to the parents of Joanness Theophilus and Yvonne Lucia Bazil. He was the oldest of six children. Marvin was affectionately known to his siblings as "Babin," since they were unable to say the "M" in Marvin when learning to talk. Born and raised in Saint Croix United States Virgin Islands, Marvin’s early life included attending Lew Muckle Elementary and Elena Rivera Middle school. At the age of 17 the family moved to Northern Virginia where he attended and graduated from Potomac Senior High School.

Prior to developing diabetic complications, Marvin worked as a furniture installer and mover for several companies in the DMV area and completed one semester at the Art Institute of Washington. Marvin had a passion for drawing and won several awards for his artistic abilities. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing his gift with family, friends, and strangers alike. His most resent project was to draw the photo of a newly engaged couple that will be displayed at their wedding in 2019.

Marvin had many pass times. He enjoyed playing and viewing soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed boxing and wrestling. History and politics were two of Marvin’s favorite pastimes, engaging in conversation and debate with anyone willing, gave him great fulfilment.

During most of Marvin’s adult life, he suffered from diabetic complications which caused him to reside in the Envoy Nursing home. On the morning of Tuesday September 19, 2017, Marvin was rushed to the Sentara Hospital after coding at Envoy. His mother and sister remained by his side until his home going on Wednesday September 27, 2017.

Marvin is survived by his father Joanness Theophilus, mother Yvonne Lucia, grandparents Marvin and Bessy Benjamin, siblings Mavlyn Jo-Ann, Jonathan Yohanse, Joaull "Joel" Yohansen, Jahmal Joanness, and Jovannie Joanness, his sister in law Nikki Rachel, niece Hannah Joëlle, cousins Bobby, Kathy, Marco, Michael, Gracie, and Jayden Bazil, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to numerous to name.

The family will receive friends at the Calvary Baptist Church, 15880 Crest Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22193 on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Life Celebration at 12:00 PM
