Michael “Mike” Henry Olejarz, Jr., age 79, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his home in Haymarket, VA of congestive heart failure.
During his 36 year career with the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike served as Operations Officer and Instructor. His assignments included tours in South America and numerous temporary posting throughout the world. Mike was awarded the prestigious Intelligence Commendation Medal for his outstanding service.
Prior to his CIA career, Mike served four years in the Marine Corps. He was chosen to serve at the Marine Barracks 8th and 1 where his duties included providing security for President Eisenhower. He was then assigned to the Marine Security Detachment in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Mike was a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in Latin American studies. In retirement he enjoyed his family, traveling, reading and genealogical research.
Mike was born on June 12, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Michael H. Olejarz, Sr. and Wanda Mary (Kriston) Olejarz.
Survivors include Mike’s loving wife of 55 years, Paula Olejarz of Haymarket, VA; two children: Mona Lisa M. Olejarz-Traina and husband Charles Joseph of Centreville, VA and Michael J. Olejarz and wife Joan M. of Winchester, VA; two grandchildren: Amanda Cecilia Olejarz and Michael Vincent Olejarz both of Winchester, VA; one brother: James Olejarz of Charlottesville, VA and four cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary said at 5:00 pm at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, VA. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA with military honors.

Insidenova.com: A bipartisan coalition of Virginia lawmakers on Tuesday presented a series of bills aimed at addressing the rapid expansion of data centers, which have become a cornerstone of the state’s economy but have raised concerns about energy use, environmental impact, and equitable cost distribution.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin highlighted the industry’s importance during his State of the Commonwealth address Monday, noting that “data centers alone support 74,000 jobs, bring in $9.1 billion in Virginia GDP, and generate billions in local revenue.” He called for Virginia to remain “the data center capital of the world” while ensuring state support for the industry.
However, lawmakers from both parties have emphasized the need for oversight to ensure the industry’s growth is managed responsibly.
The Center Square: Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin delivered the final State of the Commonwealth address of his term Monday after a delayed start to the 2025 General Assembly session, urging the state legislature to “keep Virginia winning” with bills it passes this year.
The governor began his speech by recounting how his administration and the General Assembly have delivered on priorities and policies that have made Virginia stronger.
“In our three years together, we have built strong pillars that support a winning Virginia,” Youngkin said, listing record funding in education and learning loss recovery efforts, $5 billion in tax relief, streamlining “50,000 regulations” as some of their chief accomplishments.
