Ann Marshall Welch, born in Greensboro, Guiford North Carolina on November 27, 1948 to Rudy and Annie Caviness passed away on August 9, 2017. Both of her parents predeceased her.
A feisty woman, known as the neighborhood “Mom” there were always plenty of kids at her house. Ann liked everyone unless she didn’t like you. She had a love of animals especially her cats and fish. Ann just had a way with animals, big or small they all seemed to love and trust her.
Ann, along with her friends Susan Furst, Debbie Ferkin and Sandra Torres were always hanging out together and doing short trips. Virginia Beach was one of their favorite places to go. They enjoyed shopping together, having lunch together and enjoyed attending festivals. The lavender festival was one of their favorite festivals and they all have good memories of their time spent there.
Ann married John Welch on October 20, 1965.They had 51 wonderful years together. She would jokingly say that she “put up with him” but the truth was she was deeply in love with him, and he with her. Their song was “Baby Love” by the Supremes. John, while heartbroken will continue to hold his memories of Ann close to his heart.
There were two son’s born out of their love for one another. John Jr who predeceased her and Joseph who, along with his wife Melissa and daughter Mya survive her. She was the “Best Mom” to her boys and Joseph, along with his family mourns her deeply. She is survived by her sister, who she was very close to, Lynda Russey and her husband Mike. Her brother Rudy Caviness Jr predeceased her.
There will be a celebration of her life on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road in Woodbridge, VA starting at 10 am. She will be interred at Stafford Memorial Park directly following the service.
