Susan Moriarty, born Susan Elizabeth Carr, on August 26, 1942, passed away on July 31, 2017 surrounded by her husband, son, and brother in her home in Lake Ridge, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Brian Moriarty, her son Todd Ingram (wife Michelle), stepdaughter Michelle Vucci (husband Mark), stepson Thomas Moriarty, and her grandchildren, Allison Ingram and Maria and Patrick Vucci.
Susan was the daughter of Irving and Kathleen Carr of Hingham, Massachusetts and sister of Bruce (wife Lisa) and Richard and aunt to Benjamin. After attending Boston College, she came to Virginia in the 1960s and had a long career supporting the military while working for the federal government. She served as an education director for the Marine Corps and had great love and respect for all branches of the military.
In her retirement, Susan loved to help the Prince William County community and was an advocate for persons with disabilities. At her home in Westminster at Lake Ridge, Susan was very active in many projects and committee work, especially memory support. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting their activities. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Susan’s name to the Westminster Ingleside Foundation, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Woodbridge, Va (specifically the Housing Foundation), or the American Cancer Society.
