Carl William (Bill) Hasle, 83 of Woodbridge, VA passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017 at Vibra Hospital in Richmond, VA after a long battle due to complications from a fall. He was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Florence Mae and Hartvick K. Hasle. He was raised in Alexandria, VA and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1951. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he completed 3 years of active duty, retiring from the United States Naval Reserve after 30 years of faithful service. Carl was a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he earned a degree in aeronautical engineering in 1961. He retired from federal employment at Fort Belvoir, VA after 30 years of service where he was employed as a Mechanical Engineer. His loving wife, Joyce Hasle, was a long time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, VA where Carl also attended.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, brothers Roger Hasle, Kenneth Hasle, Robert, Hasle, and beloved son-in-law Barry Cunningham. He is survived by his two daughters, Patty Cunningham and Mandy Sutherland; one son, Wade (Cathy) Hasle, and son-in-law Jim Ellsesser. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Joe (Shawna) Cunningham, Crystal Cunningham, William Cunningham, Holly Cunningham, Jason (Jessica) Ellsesser, Ben Ellsesser, Megan Sutherland, Holland Hasle, and Hayden Hasle; two great-grandchildren Connor Cunningham and Riley Ellsesser; two grandsons at heart, Hunter Catlett and Pat Vermillion, sister-in-law Ann Hasle, cousins Kathy (Curt) Tompkins and John Hasle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be accepting visitation from 10-11a.m. on Thursday, June 15 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1400 G Street, Woodbridge, VA 22191 with a service celebrating his life immediately following. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery on Thursday, June 15th at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the name of Carl Hasle to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
