Eunice Virginia Johnson, age 85, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia, as she was known to all, loved her family and her Lord. Virginia accepted Christ and was baptized at AME Methodist Church at a very young age. Along with her sisters she was a part of a gospel group formed by their uncle called the four lilies. She was educated in the Chestertown, Maryland public school system. Having been married to a military man she loved to travel and has lived in Hawaii, Texas, and Germany. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, crocheting, playing video games and horse racing. She was known as Mom to her grandchildren and as Nonni to her great grandchildren. She had worked as a nursing assistant.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters; Cheryl Harris (Lynn), Mitzi Smith (Nathaniel), Laura Hernandez (Charles Coulbourn) and one son Jeffery Johnson; ten grand children and thirty great grandchildren; two sisters Helen Baxter, Cynthia Jones, and one brother Donzell Barrett. Her two special friends Mildred Thomas and Ann Grant. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Howard Johnson (SSGT, USA, Ret.); daughter Marnita Johnson; granddaughter Nikita Johnson as well as her siblings Sasha Miller, Zoda Schofield and William Barrett.
The family will receive friends at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193 on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 12 noon until the time of her Life Celebration at 2 PM. Light refreshments in the lounge following the Celebration. Interment will be private at Quantico National Cemetery.

The Stafford County Board of Supervisors began its first meeting of 2025 with a significant leadership transition. Supervisor Deuntay Diggs was elected chairman in a 4-3 vote, succeeding outgoing Chairwoman Meg Bohmke. Diggs addressed his new role during the meeting and outlined his expectations for the year ahead, emphasizing transparency and teamwork.
Supervisor Diggs took a moment to reflect on the responsibilities of his new position and the values he brings to the role. “The citizens in the George Washington District knew that I was a law enforcement officer in this community. I love my job. And part of being a law enforcement officer is conducting ourselves with integrity. And so I will continue to do so, and I can serve in this role and do that as well,” Diggs said.
He further expressed a strong desire to foster collaboration among the board members. “The goal is that we’re gonna work together as a team. I’m not asking, I’m demanding that. That’s the expectation,” he stated. Diggs’ remarks came as a call to unity, encouraging board members to prioritize cooperation and accountability.
The board also elected Supervisor Tinesha Allen as vice chair in a 5-2 vote.
