Carlos Augusto Hernandez

Carlos Augusto Hernandez, age 82, of Bristow, Virginia passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center.

He was born on September 19, 1934 in Aguada, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Emilio and Filomena (Romaguera) Hernandez. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1958, and later retired as a Major in the US Air Force. After his military retirement, he also retired as an engineer after 13 years at the Mitre Corporation. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Lions Club in Manassas, Virginia.

Survivors include his first, only, and last love, Sonia G. Hernandez, wife of 58 years; three children, Vivian E. Tragesser and husband Michael of Carmel, Indiana, Lizzie O. Hernandez and husband Joe Wilks of Manassas, Virginia, Royce A. Hernandez and wife Leesa of Germantown, Maryland; one brother, Emilio A. Hernandez and wife Rosa of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico; seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 PM and Tuesday April 25, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia. A mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Bristow, VA. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at 1:00PM.
