Stephen Lewis-Young Gammons

Stephen Lewis-Young Gammons, (MSGT, USAF, Ret.) age 76, of Dale City, VA, passed away on April 17, 2017. Beloved husband of more than 36 years to Chon Gammons. Loving father of Nina Ellmore, of Dale City, VA, Guy Gammons (Jacqueline), of Chicago, IL, and Gary Gammons (Rebecca), of Lillian, Alabama. Cherished grandfather of 6. He was the son of the late Floyd Z. Young and Wreatha (Stewart) Young.

In 1958, after graduating from High School, Stephen went straight into the Air Force, where he proudly served our country for over 26 years; retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he served as an Air Force Enlisted Historian. After retirement, Stephen continued to work for the Department of the Army as a civil servant for over 21 years. His passions in life were his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. Stephen will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at the Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Boulevard, Dale City, VA 22193 on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
Interment with Air Force Honors will follow in Quantico National Cemetery at 12 Noon
