Clarice Ellen Joy Farrell, 98, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
Born on October 24, 1918, she was a native of Franklin, Nebraska and a member of the Franklin Congregational Church. After high school, Clarice moved to Hastings, Nebraska to work as a stenographer on the Tri-County Federal Dam Project. This is where she met her husband, Charles Farrell. After marrying in August, 1940, Clarice and Charles moved to Washington, D.C. where they started their family. They lived in the metropolitan area for over 36 years. In 1976, they retired and relocated to Winter Haven, Florida where they enjoyed many happy years which included traveling to many overseas destinations including Holland, Ireland, Switzerland, the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Clarice spent part of her time helping out as a volunteer in the gift shop of the Winter Haven Hospital.
Following her husband’s death in 1994, Clarice moved to Manassas, Virginia to be closer to family. She lived for 21 year at the Fairmont Retirement Community. Her remaining years were spent at the Brookdale Assisted Living Center. Clarice will always be remembered as a devoted wife and mother to her four daughters, a home maker and an accomplished pianist. She often entertained her fellow residents on the piano playing music that they enjoyed from their younger days.
Clarice is survived by her four daughters and their husbands; Patricia (Thomas) Bowman of Ponte Verde, Florida, Kathryn (David) Rubach of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jeanne (Joe) Romeo of Gainesville, Virginia, and Mary (Karl) Schultz of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Additional survivors include eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Clarice and her family would like to thank the many Visiting Angels who cared for her with much devotion over the later years of her life. Expressions of sympathy may be in the form of a donation to Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, April 3, 2017 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home &
Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.

The Haymarket Town Council is set to meet tonight, Monday, February 3, 2025, at 7 p.m. to receive an update from the town manager on several ongoing projects and initiatives. The meeting will occur at the Council Chambers, located at 15000 Washington St., Suite 100, in Haymarket.
Among the key topics on the agenda, town officials will discuss:
Park Sidewalk Project: Progress continues on the asphalt work, tree planting, and signage installation along Washington Street, with lighting and benches set to be delivered soon.
Stormwater Assessment Program: Officials have identified three major problem areas for stormwater drainage improvements, with full surveying expected to be completed by April 2025.
Town Center Development: Town staff are reviewing the latest submission of the site plan, with discussions focused on prioritization and financing.
Highpointe at Haymarket: The rezoning application for a proposed workforce housing project remains on hold.
