GAINESVILLE, Va. — Â A woman was shot in the Virginia Gateway shopping center tonight.Â
The shooting happened at 5:35 p.m. in a parking lot between a Hampton Inn hotel and a Five Guys restaurant in the 7300 block of Atlas Walk Way.Â
One woman suffered serious injuries to her upper body and was flown to a local hospital for the treatment of injuries that appeared to be life-threatening, according to Prince William police spokesman Nathan Probus.
Police took photos of the area that has been roped off for the shooting investigation. The photos show a now vacant store that was home to a Gym Source.

Homicide Investigation – On November 6 at 5:35PM, officers responded to a parking lot located in the 7300 block of Atlas Walk Way in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a shooting. Once on scene, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim, identified as a 26-year-old female of Gainesville, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are continuing to investigate this case. Currently, no arrests have been made. At this time, this shooting does not appear to be random. More information will be released as it becomes available. This is Prince William County’s 20th homicide for 2016. *
