Police made an arrest in the shooting death of Jamal Hakeem Ahmad Joseph Bryant, 21, of Woodbridge.
New information from Prince William police:Â
Murder Investigation *ARREST – On May 3, detectives from the Homicide Unit identified a suspect involved in the shooting death of an adult male which occurred in the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries earlier that day.
The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Jamal Hakeem Ahmad Joseph BRYANT, made arrangements to meet in the above area. Once in that area, the victim was approached by the suspect, identified as Derick Dwabena PREMPEH. During the encounter, the victim was shot.
Officers arrived and attempted to render aide to the victim who succumbed to his injures. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of PREMPEH who was subsequently located and arrested in Maryland on May 5 by members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force. PREMPEH remains in custodyin Maryland pending extradition back to Virginia. The investigation continues.

A police investigation is underway into a homicide in near Dumfries overnight.Â

Homicide Investigation- On May 3rd at 1:03AM, officers responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim, an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation continues and additional information will be released once it is made available. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Prince William County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
