3-month-old child stabbed by family member

A 35-year-old Woodbridge woman is charged with aggravated malicious wounding.
 
According to police, the suspect stabbed the three month old victim in the lower body while she was crying. The victim was identified as a family member. 

 
The victim was taken to a local hospital for serious, life threatening injuries, said the police.

Aggravated Malicious Wounding – On April 9 at 12:42PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 3200 block of Ridge View Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a stabbing. The investigation revealed that the accused, identified as a family member, was watching the victim, a 3 month old girl, who was crying. At some point, the accused retrieved a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the lower body.  Another family member was notified who then contacted police. Officers arrived and detained the accused without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
