Human remains were found inside a house that burned in Woodbridge on Tuesday night.
One person was reported missing after the fire gutted a row house on Ponderosa Lane.

Death Investigation – On March 16 at 2:42AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14600 block of Ponderosa Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to assist the Department of Fire and Rescue with a townhouse fire. Due to the unsafe structural conditions of the home, fire crews were unable to conduct an interior search of the residence for any occupants. As the investigation progressed, it was determined that a resident of the home was unaccounted for.
On March 17, investigators were able to confirm that human remains were inside the residence. The remains will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further analysis and identification. This incident is being jointly investigated by the Prince William County Police Homicide Unit and the Department of Fire and Rescue’s Fire Marshals’ Office.
The identity of the deceased will be released once positive identification is confirmed and next of kin notified. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.
