Funeral services were held today for Prince William police Officer Ashley Guindon.
The 28-year-old was honored at a funeral service at Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge that was scheduled to begin at noon. Thousands, from community members, to members of police and fire and rescue from around the Washington, D.C. region and out of state attended.
The 28-year-old was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, while responding to a call for a domestic disturbance at a single family home in Dale City. Two veteran Prince William police officers were also shot and are expected to recover.
It was Guindon’s first day on the job. She was sworn in as a Prince William police officer the day before her death.
Crystal Sheree Hamilton, 29, was also shot and killed in the incident. Her husband, 32-year-old Ronald Williams Hamilton is charged in the shooting death of Guindon and Williams, the with the malicious wounding of the two other police officers who were shot.
Guindon’s mother attended the funeral service today, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Guindon’s body will be flown to Massachusetts for burial.
