Brooks charged with strangulation

A man threw the 41-year-old victim to the ground and proceeded to choke her after their verbal altercation escalated, according to police.

The victim received treatment at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On February 7 at 9:30AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16300 block of Flotsam Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 41 year old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation on February 6 at 12:00PM which escalated.

During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim by the neck then threw her to the ground and choked her. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted after the victim received treatment at a local hospital for minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Arrested on February 7:

Kirk Bruce BROOKS, 46, of the 16300 block of Flotsam Ln in Woodbridge

Charged with strangulation, domestic assault & battery, and preventing the summoning of law enforcement

Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond
