Bomb threats prompt evacuations in Prince William, Stafford

Elementary schools in Prince William and Stafford counties were evacuated today.

Students at Glenkirk Elementary in Prince William County, and Ferry Farm Elementary in Stafford County were evacuated after bomb threats were called into the schools.

Glenkirk was evacuated about 11 a.m. Monday.

Evacuation remains precautionary due to an unconfirmed phone threat—all are safe and in the process of being transported to Masteller Middle School, where lunch will be provided.

There is no need for parents to pick up students—emergency plans assure their safety and comfort.

To ensure orderly transportation, students will NOT be released to parents from Glenkirk. Those insisting on picking up students should go to Masteller Middle School. This will ensure a safe orderly process for everyone. All students are safe and fully supervised. Further updates to come.

Students at Ferry Farm Elementary were evacuated about noon to Dixon Smith Elementary School in Stafford County.

Parents were told to avoid going to the school to pick their children. The school division announced students would be returned to Ferry Farm for regular dismissal.

No injuries were reported.

The threats in Prince William and Stafford counties come amid a host of similar threats today that disrupted elementary schools from Deleware, Maryland, and Virginia.

After almost 40 years in practice, Manassas-based Internist John Cary, MD’s change to concierge medicine enabled focused attention for each individual, and the launch of his innovative diet program for those with type 2 diabetes. “The goal is to promote enough weight loss to reach an acceptable A1C of 6% with no medication,” he explains. “Achieving that can take several months of very close follow up. As I tell my patients, we are in this together.”

Jay Tyroler, MD considers his patients quite literally as family. “I believe there’s nothing more honorable than helping patients when they’re sick, or scared, or feeling vulnerable, and I care for them exactly as I would my loved ones.” Whether for a specialist referral, urgent health issue or ongoing follow up, “My patients know I’m always just a phone call away.”
