Man nearly stabbed near hypothermia shelter in Woodbridge

The 43 year old man from Triangle was threatened with a knife after an altercation with the suspect grew heated near the near a hypothermia shelter in Woodbridge.

The suspect left on foot after the victim kicked the knife away while on the ground.

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On December 27th at 10:13PM, officers responded to the 14700 block of Potomac Mills Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate subjects fighting in the area.

The caller reported that the victim, a 43 year old man of Triangle, was involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect, a known acquaintance, which escalated.

During the altercation, the suspect brandished a knife and attempted to stab the victim while he was on the ground. The victim was able to kick the knife away from the suspect who then left the area on foot.

No injuries were reported. The victim did not want cooperative with officers. 

Police said Edgar Goodwin is wanted in connection to this case. Attempts by police to locate him have been unsuccessful. 

He’s described as black, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a heavy build, black hair, and brown eyes. Police provided us a photo of Goodwin taken in July 2015.
