New route for Manassas Park Light Parade on December 12

There is a new parade route for this year’s Manassas Park Light Parade.

The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. at General’s Ridge Golf Course in Manassas Park. It then winds its way through the city to the Manassas Park Community Center.

We asked Tony Thomas at the City of Manassas Park about why a new route was chosen:

PL: Why the new route?

Thomas: The new route was chosen to end at the Manassas Park Community Center to showcase the state of the art facility for spectators; it also provides additional parking spots for the floats when it’s time for them to unload; and the new route will be slightly longer than the old one, allowing the parade to pass in front of more homes and spectators.

PL:  What was the old route?

Thomas: The old route began at General’s Ridge Golf Course and followed Manassas Dr. to the conclusion of the parade, which was at the Manassas Park Police Department.

PL: How many floats in this year’s parade?

Thomas: We are expecting roughly 40 vehicles in this year’s parade.

The Manassas Park Community Center is also looking for more vehicles to participate in the parade. For more information contact Tony Thomas at [email protected].
