A series of agencies in Prince William County were awarded grants from the Potomac Health Foundation.
Here’s more in a press release:
Potomac Health Foundation awarded grants to seven agencies serving residents of eastern Prince William County, Lorton, and North Stafford communities through its Health Safety Net (HSN) Program.
It also awarded grants to two agencies for capacity building support through its Management Assistance Program (MAP). The Foundation Board of Directors awarded $896,945 in HSN support and $8,700 in MAP support for a total of $905,645. Strengthening access to health care for the medically underserved is a funding priority for the Foundation and in 2014, the Foundation started making support available specifically for general operating support for Health Safety Net programs.
This is the third year that Health Safety Net support has been made available to agencies; grants will start on January 1, 2016. MAP is a funding strategy directed toward recipients who currently have grants through the Foundation’s Howard L. Greenhouse Large Grant Program.
The objective of MAP support is to ensure that Foundation investments in large grant programs can be sustained by grantees. This is done through supporting capacity building in the areas of strengthening executive and board leadership, strengthening organizational planning and assessment, and improving financial management and sustainability.
MAP Grants will start on January 1, 2016. Potomac Health Foundation is an independent, private foundation whose mission is to improve the health of the community. It serves the communities of eastern Prince William County, north Stafford County and Lorton.
