Police said Charles Lee Peele, III killed two German Shepard dogs in Nokesville last month.

Felony Animal Cruelty | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 8th, Animal Control Officers began an investigation after a German Shepherd was found deceased in a wooded area located in the 10700 block Lonesome Rd in Nokesville (20181). The owner of the dog initially reported this dog, and another German Shepherd, missing to Animal Shelter staff on November 6th. On November 8th, during a search of the property, the owner located the dog, identified as 5 month old “Zoey”, deceased with an apparent gunshot wound. After locating the deceased dog, the owner contacted police. The second dog, identified as 9 year old “Maddie”, was found deceased the following day on November 9th also with an apparent gunshot wound. Both dogs were turned over to Animal Control for further examination.
During the investigation, a possible suspect, identified as the accused, was identified. After necropsies were completed on both dogs, it was determined that both had died as a result of their gunshot related injuries. Following the investigation, warrants were obtained for the arrest of the accused on December 1st. The accused turned himself into police later that evening.
