Manassas Park residents get break on utility bill late fees

Residents in Manassas Park will get a break on their utility bills.

City Manager Kimberly Alexander said all late fees for city utility bills, to include water bills, will be waived until Monday.

Many people have come to city hall on Manassas Drive only to find it closed due to construction. Those who show up are directed to a trailer in the parking lot. Inside, someone directs them to a temporary office inside one of two other trailers in the parking lot where official government business is being conducted.

Other city offices were also moved outside the municipal headquarters to other buildings, to include the city’s police department. Alexander said she hoped to reopen city hall by tomorrow.

All this stems after construction work on the roof at city caused some workers inside the building to fall ill. Afterward, the building was closed to the public last week.

Workers were atop the roof at city hall on Tuesday to continue the scheduled repairs. The building is roped off, and no access to the building is not permitted.

Drivers who pull into the parking lot see orange cones, and a variable message board sign normally seen on the side of a highway that displays information letting them know about the temporary closure.
