On Sunday, September 20, 2015, the Virginia Leadership Institute will host a reception to honor and recognize the achievements of Dr. Michael Otaigbe, the Prince William County School Board Member representing the Coles Magisterial District. The community is invited to attend and celebrate the contributions of Dr. Otaigbe as his service on the Board comes to end.

The reception will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Northern Virginia Community College Woodbridge Campus Lakeside Theatre Auditorium (15200 Neabsco Mills Rd, Woodbridge, VA). To RSVP, email [email protected] by Wednesday, September 16. The program will include short remarks from Prince William leaders and students, and refreshments will be provided.

“The Virginia Leadership Institute is proud to continue its mission of bringing diversity to Virginia’s political landscape by celebrating community and political leaders across the Commonwealth,” said Virginia Leadership Institute founder and CEO Krysta Jones. “We are extremely proud and honored to thank Dr. Otaigbe for the trails he has blazed for all of us who are dedicated to making our community stronger and ensuring a bright future for our students.”

Dr. Michael Otaigbe was first elected in 2003 and is currently serving his third consecutive term on the Board, but will not seek re-election this November. He served as Vice Chairman of the School Board in 2013, and served 23 years as Dean of the Woodbridge campus of Strayer Univeristy.

Dr. Otaigbe is the chairman of the Joint Board of The Governor’s School @ Innovation Park, which is a collaboration with George Mason University and the school divisions of Manassas City, Manassas Park, and Prince William County. He was also appointed as a member of the Virginia General Assembly’s Joint Subcommittee Studying Science, Math, and Technical Education. Dr. Otaigbe has served as a past chair of the Northern Virginia Community College Technical Program and Vice President of the Citizens Police Academy.
