On August 10, Azalea Charities presented a donation of $5,000 to the Prince William County Area Free Clinic.
As a charity that sponsors Aid for Wounded Warriors, Azalea Charities became aware of the need for support of our veterans who are living in vehicles, in the woods and on the streets of Prince William County. Homeless veterans are a nationwide issue, and Azalea Charities is working locally to reach as many of our veterans who have served us well and protected our freedom.
According to Frank Lasch, Chairman of Azalea Charities, “We hope to spark an all-out effort to business and local communities and organizations to bring our veterans out of the woods and back into society by clothing them, providing medical care, food, and providing them with job opportunities.”
Lasch was initially asked by Mrs. Jane Beyer to visit the clinic and see what could be done to help out homeless veterans. Lasch says, “I was amazed because I had never seen a place as clean as a hospital like the PWC Area Free Clinic”.
This experience helped him realize the growing need for outreach to our homeless veterans.
“If we are going to tackle this problem then we have to join together to get it done. Azalea Charities will do its part and hopes that the business community, organizations and those who reside in PWC will join in the fight to end homelessness for our veterans. I urge the local Chambers of Commerce to think about this effort and reach out to the PWC Area Free Clinic to provide the funds needed and help establish a plan to provide housing for our local veterans.”
Support for these efforts is echoed by Mrs. Linda Franklin, Executive Director and Dr. Rebecca Sinclair of the Prince William County Area Free Clinic, “Our Clinic is honored to receive a check for $5,000 from Azalea Charities that will help to provide much-needed services to homeless veterans in our community. The Prince William County Area Free Clinic depends on the support of community partners to help provide medical care to uninsured indigent residents of Prince William County, Manassas City and Manassas Park. By working together, we can improve the quality of life for those in need.
