Having a backup plan is important in life – especially when you’re in business.
With so many health care providers switching from paper to digital records, it’s more important than ever to consider having a backup.
Maybe your system goes down, or there’s an emergency that damages the facility and you can’t get physical access right away. When you’re dealing with confidential and HIPAA protected information, you need to ensure that you’ve got disaster recovery.
Losing all of your patient’s files in an emergency can ruin – or at least halt – your business, and if you do need to move to a new facility, you want continuity to avoid as many problems as possible. For example, if there was a fire or a flood, you would need a way to access online backups of your files, in order to continue your business.
While having a backup of all digital files locally is a good idea, it’s really not enough to cover you if something were to happen.
“A lot of people have a misconception about backups…they’ll have a backup system locally…If something happens to your server and you had to restore it…say you have a company with 50 people…That system knows who has access to what data and network resources…if you lost that and had to rebuild that from scratch, it’s extremely time consuming,” said Kristen Maxey, a spokeswoman for JTC, Inc.
Building things back up after an incident can not only be time consuming – but hazardous to your business. For example, if your staff all have certain permissions on privileged information and the system were to go down, when it was back up, these permissions would be wiped away and your staff would either be completely restricted, or able to use the system freely without any restrictions at all.
Having an off-site storage back up for critical data also doesn’t backup your company server’s system state.
The best way to manage your files is to have both on-site and online backups. If you want this done affordably and correctly, then JTC, Inc. is the one for the job. As a health care provider, all you need to do is purchase the online backups system and JTC, Inc. will manage it for you, and fix any problems that may come up.
“A really bad time to find out your backup isn’t working is when you need it,” said Maxey.
JTC, Inc. can handle all of your off-site file storage, and will proactively manage your backups, to avoid any problems. They’ve got employees on staff that is dedicated to checking backups each day, to make sure that your company – and your files – are protected.
Don’t leave the security of your files to chance. Take care of your information the way that you take care of your patients, and have a backup on-site and online, managed by JTC, Inc.

At approximately 2:45 P.M. on Saturday, February 1st, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue (SCFR) responded to a reported structure fire in the 100 block of Aquia Creek Road, near Aquia Creek. Callers reported a neighboring residence on fire, and first arriving units marked the scene less than 10 minutes later and confirmed fire and smoke coming from the rear and roof of a single-family residence.
Due to a lack of hydrants in the area, crews had to utilize rural water operations to shuttle water to the scene. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and bring it under control in approximately an hour, despite the roof collapsing.
The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The fire is under routine investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office. SCFR units were assisted on scene by Quantico Fire and Emergency Services.
