Demolished plant makes way for Cabela’s; Brentsville Road work ahead

The Betco Block plant was demolished this morning to make way for a new Cabela’s outdoor store.

The store will sit on a 13-acre property in Gainesville sits just off Interstate 66 where the plant once stood. When the store opens in 2017, it will join neighboring stores at the Virginia Gateway center. Read more about this morning’s demolition on PotomacLocal.com.

In Manassas, Georgetown South residents want city officials to remove special parking rules that apply to their residential neighborhood. A special parking district was set up nearly 20 years ago in Georgetown South.

The Manassas City Council is expected to meet his evening to discuss the matter.

Friends and family will gather in Manassas on September 25 to honor Virginia’s longest serving senator, Chuck Colgan. First elected in 1975, Colgan is heralded as a champion for education in the community. His celebration will be held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
