The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office says they have their suspect in an early morning shooting in the county:
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Antoine Gray Johnson, age 26, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland has been charged with 1 Count of 1st Degree Murder and 1 Count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Johnson is currently in the process of being incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Johnson knew is victim, 29-year-old Jeremy Brown, according to investigators.
The victim has been identified as Jeremy Brown, age 29 of 110 Abbey Lane in Stafford County. Officer Brown, a police officer with the FBI Police, was leaving his residence at 5:01 this morning, in uniform, when he was confronted by Antoine Johnson. Officer Brown and Antoine Johnson knew each other. Gun shots were exchanged during the confrontation and Officer Brown was killed. Stafford deputies responded immediately and were able to get a description of Johnson as well as the vehicle he was driving from witnesses in the neighborhood. The reason for the confrontation is part of the ongoing investigation.
Following the shooting, police tracked their suspect to Dahlgren.
Local jurisdictions were notified of the incident as well as a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. In 20 minutes a deputy from the King George County Sheriff’s Office spotted Antoine Johnson and his vehicle in the area of Caledon Road and Dahlgren Road, and he was subsequently taken into custody in the Route 301, Dahlgren area. Located in the vehicle was a handgun of the same caliber that was used in the homicide. Stafford detectives’ investigation during the day clearly indicated that Antoine Johnson was responsible for the homicide.
Authorities say this is an isolated incident.

One person is dead this morning in the White Oak section of Stafford County.
Shots rang out at a home on Clint Lane at 5:01 a.m. Monday, April 27. Sheriff’s investigators found a male suffering a fatal gunshot wound.
“Currently Stafford detectives and deputies are on scene investigating. There is no further danger to the community,” stated sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy in a press release.
School bus drivers this morning were routed around the area affected by the investigation. A message went out to residents notifying them of the shooting, according to Kennedy.
Clint Lane is off Town and County Drive, just off the busy White Oak Road in southern Stafford County.
