Our website, PotomacLocal.com, was taken offline for about an hour Tuesday night.
Several users of the Potomac Local mobile site reported technical issues. When links on the site were clicked, readers were taken to various other websites to include gaming and pornography sites.
All of the problematic issues are resolved and Potomac Local is back online. We sincerely apologize to our readers and thank them for their patience.
The issues that led to us temporality suspending service on our site were beyond our control. A file our site was hacked which routed mobile users to different sites other than Potomac Local.
Now the issue has been resolved, mobile users who experienced problems will not experience additional problems when trying to access our site, or while surfing the web on their mobile devices.
The issues came after Potomac Local updated its mobile website this week in advance search algorithm change at Google. The online search giant now ranks websites based on sites’ ability to be easily read on the screens of mobile devices.
