Late yesterday evening, a 39-year old McLean man was the victim of an armed robbery on Harwood Oaks Court in Dumfries.
Prince William police arrived on the scene, and spoke to the victim, who stated that he had made arrangements to meet with the suspect in Dumfries.
The victim intended to purchase a cell phone that the suspect had listed for sale on Facebook.
When the two met, the suspect showed the man a handgun and took his keys and money, and fleed from the scene on foot.
No injuries were reported. The Prince William police sent out a K-9 unit to the area to search for the suspect. He has not yet been located.
The suspect has been described as a male of unknown race, between 25 to 30 yeards old, 6’0”, 145 pounds with short hair and a mustache.
The victim saw him wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black stocking cap during their encounter.

Armed Robbery – On March 16th at 10:40PM, officers responded to the 16600 block of Harwood Oaks Ct in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 39 year old man of Mclean, reported to police that he made arrangements to meet with an unknown man in the above area to purchase a cell phone which he was listed for sale on Facebook. During the encounter, the man displayed a handgun and took the victim’s keys and money before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect.
