Fights broke out at area malls this weekend in Manassas and Woodbridge.
Officers were called first to an IHOP restaurant inside Manassas Mall at 3:07 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at 8300 Sudley Road just outside Manassas.
The victim, the 40-year-old manager of the restaurant, told police a fight broke out earlier in the restaurant. The man asked those involved in the fight to leave, according to police.
A female who was involved in the fight came back inside the restaurant and the man escorted her back out. About the same time, three men approached the manager and assaulted him, according to police.
The female and the attackers fled the scene. The victim suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. The victim was unable to describe his attackers, according to police.
On the same date, police were called to Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge for a report of a fight at a mall entrance. When they arrived, officers helped mall security guards break up a large crowed that had gathered in the area of the fight, police said. Afterward, more fights broke out in the parking lot and more officers were called to the scene.
A 16-year-old male from Woodbridge and a 17-year-old male from Triangle were both found suffering injuries after the fight. Both said they were assaulted but neither cooperated with police during the investigation, a police spokesman said.
No suspects were identified. Two vehicles were damaged when fights broke out in the parking lot. The damage is estimated to be $250.
