Come January at Malones of Manassas restaurant, it’ll be formal downstairs and a party upstairs.
The Old Town Manassas eatery at Main and Church streets will open its long-awaited 2nd floor bar and lounge on Jan. 1. Construction crews are now hard at work on the expansion.
New fixtures for the bar and dining area were delivered prior to Thanksgiving. The 2nd floor will hold a total of 82 people on the 2nd floor. In addition to a bar, the room will include 12 cocktail tables and will have several TVs mounted to the wall.
It’s taken about two years for the restaurant – which is located inside an old church – to reach a point where it can open the top floor to customers.
What is the reason for the delay?
“A little bit of this, a little bit of that… it’s expensive,” said Kathy Saylors, who was overseeing construction of the second floor.
Saylors is the sister of restaurant owner Kevin Malone.
When it opens, the second floor will also feature live music. The downstairs portion of the restaurant also has a bar, as well as dining tables.
On its menu, Malones features steak, as well as a mix of seafood and pasta dishes.
