WOODBRIDGE, Va. - On October 3, a 25-year-old woman was hospitalized after a female suspect knocked her down and cut her leg with a box cutter. Police say that the incident happened while the suspect was trying to steal the victim's purse.

Malicious Wounding | Attempted Armed Robbery – On October 3rd at 6:41PM, officers responded to investigate an attempted robbery which was reported to have occurred in the area of Telegraph Rd and Opitz Blvd in Woodbridge (22192). The victim, a 25 year old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that she was walking in the above area when she was approached by an unknown woman. The woman grabbed the victim’s purse and attempted to remove it from around her arm. The victim held onto her purse and a struggle ensued. At one point, the suspect was knocked to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspect pulled out a box cutter and cut the victim in the leg before fleeing on foot. The victim went to an area hospital where police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.
