Gainesville Sexual Assault Suspect Nabbed

GAINESVILLE, Va. – On August 30, the suspect connected with sexually assaulting a woman in Gainesville on on August 27, was found and arrested by police. 

Here’s the latest from Prince William police:

Aggravated Sexual Battery *ARREST – On August 30th, officers located and arrested the suspect involved in the sexual assault which occurred in the 14600 block of Lee Hwy near the Gainesville Square Shopping Center in Gainesville on August 27th. Detectives received information that the suspect was possibly in the area of Lomond Dr and Sudley Rd. Officers checked the area and eventually located the suspect at an area restaurant where he was arrested without incident.

Arrested on August 30th:

Juan Carlos LOPEZ-RAMIREZ, 23, of 7622 Old Linton Hall Rd in Manassas

Charged with aggravated sexual battery and abduction with intent to defile

Court Date: pending | Bond: held WITHOUT bond

Sexual Assault [Previously Released] – On August 27th at 10:02PM, officers responded to the 14600 block of Lee Hwy near the Gainesville Square Shopping Center in Gainesville (20155) to investigate a sexual assault.  The victim, a 19 year old female, reported to police that she was walking in the above area when she was approached from behind by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man pushed the victim down an embankment and sexually assaulted her.  The victim was able to break free of the suspect and climbed out of the embankment.  A citizen came to her aide as the suspect ran into the wooded area near Lee Hwy just south of Webb Dr. Prior to the offense he was seen riding a bike in the area.  No weapon was displayed during the incident. The suspect may have sustained injuries to his face, shoulder and hands during the struggle. On August 28th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit were able to identify the suspect as Juan Carlos LOPEZ-RAMIREZ. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants against the suspect.
