GAINESVILLE, Va. — Someone tried to rob the Gainesville Pharmacy just about 4 p.m.
The pharmacy is located at 7936 Heritage Village Plaza, just off Heathcoate Boulevard in Gainesville.
An employee told a 911 operator that a man armed with a gun walked into the store and attempted to rob it, according to initial reports. He was unsuccessful and fled the store empty handed, according to initial information.
The would-be robber fled the scene in a maroon 4-door Ford Taurus. Witnesses said the license plate on the car was a Virginia tag with the last four numbers 5554, or 5454.
The intruder was said to be white, in is late 40s, wearing a blue bandana over his face, a baseball cap and blue jeans, according to initial reports.
