Wilfred R. “Sonny” Kurtz, 76, of Woodbridge, died on May 20, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Lisa L. Kurtz; his mother, Edna Kurtz; his daughters, Lisa Kurtz and Laura Dotson and her husband Joe; grandchildren, Marty Condrey, Michael Davis, Christopher Kenworthy, Hannah and Seth Kurtz, and Gracie Dotson; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Phoenix. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Kurtz; and his brother, Keith Kurtz.
Sonny was a veteran of the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division. He retired from the D.C. Dept of Corrections in 1989. However, he continued working for a Federal Contractor as a Security Guard for more than 20 years.
The family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd. Dale City, VA 22193. A Life Celebration service will be at 10am, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Calvary Rd. Baptist Church, 6811 Beulah St. Alexandria, VA 22310. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the Leukemia Research Foundation at www.leukemia-research.org.
