William Finley

William Ronald Finley, 79, of Manassas, Virginia passed away on November 11, 2014 at the Prince William Hospital. 
William (Bill) Ronald Finley was born January 6, 1935 in Williamson County, Illinois. Bill was the son of Lloyd Finley and Ora Lee Brown Finley. He married Lucy Ada Layne on April 11th, 1959 at the White Hill Presbyterian Church in Lee County, North Carolina. He was a member of the Manassas Presbyterian Church and served as a host deacon and elder. While serving six years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation, a National Service Ribbon, a Korean Service Ribbon, a United Nations Ribbon, and two Good Conduct Medals. He was employed by IBM as a System Field Engineer and as a Computer Programmer. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucy Ada Layne; an infant son, William Ronald Finley, Jr.; and a half-brother, Eugene Lloyd Finley. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ann Finley Sharp and her husband Dennis of Columbia, Maryland; a son, James Lloyd Finley and his wife Betty of Dale City; a son, Thomas Lee Finley and Tracie of Manassas; and a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Sharp of Baltimore, Maryland.
Bill wished to be remembered as he was. There will be no public viewing. Graveside services with military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on May 22, 2014 at 1:00 with the Reverend Dr. Skip Ferguson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Manassas Presbyterian Church, 8201 Ashton Avenue, Manassas, VA 20109.
